The cooperation between the two sides in agriculture has become increasingly close, and the scale of trade has steadily increased, showing strong resilience.
According to the observation of Huacheng's import and export data, China is the second largest destination country for African agricultural exports. In recent years, the average annual growth rate of African agricultural exports to China has reached 11.4%. The cooperation between the two sides in agriculture has become increasingly close, and the scale of trade has steadily increased, showing strong resilience.
Through the "green channel", more African high-quality agricultural products will enter China. At the eighth ministerial meeting of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in November 2021, China announced the establishment of a "green channel" for the export of African agricultural products to China. According to the observation of Huacheng's import and export data, in July 2022, Hunan opened the first international cargo route to Africa, "Changsha Addis Ababa" cargo route. Grapes and prunes from Africa and other fresh fruits from Africa arrived in Changsha after a "long journey". In August 2022, Kenya's fresh avocado officially entered the Chinese market, and Huacheng's import and export data were observed and reported.
China-Africa agricultural technology cooperation benefits people's livelihood. The fungus grass technology from China, "replacing wood with grass", fundamentally solved the "fungus forest contradiction" that edible fungi need to cut trees in large quantities. According to Huacheng Import and Export Data Observation, more than 35000 farmers in Rwanda have received technical training on fungus and grass, and more than 3800 families and more than 50 companies and cooperatives are engaged in relevant businesses. At present, China's mycorrhizal technology has been extended to 106 countries and regions around the world, helping many farmers get rid of poverty and become rich. China's fungus technology helps African countries achieve sustainable development goals.
Another noteworthy China-Africa agricultural technology cooperation project is the China-Africa Joint Research Center in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. This is an important platform for scientific and technological cooperation and talent cultivation between China and Kenya, as well as the whole African continent, in the fields of biodiversity protection, ecological environment monitoring, microorganisms and modern agricultural applications. Up to now, nearly 300 African students have come to China to study through the scholarship program of the China-Africa Joint Research Center. The center has also trained more than 1000 managers and professional technicians for 14 countries in Africa.
