Recently, according to customs data, in 2022, the import and export scale of agricultural products in Guangdong hit a new record, surpassing Shandong and ranking first in the country.

In 2022, Guangdong's import and export of agricultural products reached 330.18 billion yuan, an increase of 28.1% compared to 2021 (the same below), accounting for 14.8% of the total import and export value of agricultural products in China; Among them, exports amounted to 115.77 billion yuan, an increase of 69.1%; Import reached 214.41 billion yuan, up 13.3%.

According to customs data, the import and export of agricultural products in Guangdong presents four major characteristics: maintaining rapid growth with major trading partners, significantly increasing exports of characteristic fruits, effectively ensuring a stable supply of vegetables and fruits for Hong Kong, and mainly importing meat, dried and fresh fruits, nuts, and grains.

Specifically, in 2022, Guangdong's imports and exports of agricultural products to its major trading partners achieved positive growth. According to customs data, Guangdong's imports and exports increased by 32.5% to ASEAN, 63.8% to the United States, 4.3% to the EU, 13.4% to Hong Kong, and 20.9% to Brazil. In addition, the growth rate was 32.6% for countries along the "the Belt and Road" and 26.7% for other RCEP member countries.

According to customs data, in terms of category, Guangdong exported 780 million yuan of citrus fruits in 2022, an increase of 18.2%; Bananas amounted to 37.867 million yuan, an increase of 196.1%; Longan was 29.864 million yuan, up 32.9%. It is worth noting that Guangdong's litchi exports lead the country, with an export of 170 million yuan in 2022, accounting for 59.4% of the country's litchi exports.

In terms of ensuring the supply of vegetables and fruits to Hong Kong, customs data show that in 2022, Guangdong's exports of vegetables and fruits to Hong Kong totaled 3.59 billion yuan, an increase of 145.6%, with the export volume of vegetables and fruits supplied to Hong Kong through waterway transportation significantly increasing by 46 times. During the period of poor logistics on Shenzhen Hong Kong roads affected by the epidemic, the customs in Guangdong Province strongly supported the "land to water transfer" to ensure that fruits and vegetables supplied to Hong Kong are "shipped on the same day, declared on the same day, and exported on the same day.".

In terms of imports, the import value of meat, dried and fresh fruits, nuts, and grains in Guangdong in 2022 was 39.38 billion yuan, 38.3 billion yuan, and 34.12 billion yuan, respectively, accounting for 52.2% of the total import value of agricultural products in Guangdong. Among them, imports of dried and fresh fruits and nuts increased by 15.8%, and imports of grain increased by 25.9%.
