On March 17th, according to data from the Association of Vietnamese Aquatic Products Exporters and Producers (VASEP), the international trade exports of products from the South China Sea to China in February this year increased by 33% year-on-year, reaching 122 million US dollars. After China optimized its response to the COVID-19 epidemic, the export of Vietnamese products to China showed signs of recovery.
Nguyen Hoai Nam, Deputy Secretary General of the Vietnamese Association of Aquatic Exporters and Producers (VASEP), said that last year, China became the second largest export market for Vietnamese products in the South China Sea, with trade growth of 63%, exceeding the industry's annual growth rate of 23%. After the rapid change of China's response strategy to the COVID-19, China is bringing bright prospects to the exporters of products in the South Vietnam Sea for international trade.
Tran Thanh Nam, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, said that the epidemic has disrupted multiple supply chains, causing a disconnect between Vietnamese enterprises and their Chinese partners. Measures are being taken to reconnect the supply chain and promote bilateral trade.
The head of the Border Management Bureau, Tran Thi Bich Ngoc, said that through the Mong Cai international trade border port, Vietnam's agricultural and fishery exports to China increased by about 60% year-on-year.
He urged local enterprises to adopt new production technologies and good organizational management measures to keep their products up to standards.
The Vietnam Association of Exporters and Producers of International Aquatic Products Trade (VASEP) said that due to the lack of signs of recovery in demand in major markets, including the United States and Europe, Vietnam's international trade exports of seafood in the first two months of this year were $1.1 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 26%.
