Food Export | South Korea's Registration Requirements for Overseas Production Enterprises of Aq

Some importing countries/regions impose access requirements on overseas manufacturers of imported food. In addition to complying with the requirements of Chinese laws and regulations, the relevant food export enterprises in China must also comply with the relevant health regulations of the importing country/region and obtain the registration qualification of the importing country/region before they can export the relevant food to the country/region.

The following are South Korea's registration requirements for overseas producers of aquatic products.

Introduction to Korean Registration

South Korea implements import sanitation registration for foreign manufacturers of aquatic products.

Competent authority: Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of South Korea.

Food companies exporting to Korea should meet the relevant requirements of foreign food production sites in Korea.

According to South Korea's "Special Law on Imported Food Safety Management" (abbreviated as Special Law), the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety of South Korea organizes and arranges the safety management of foreign production enterprises, including on-site inspection plans.

Edible aquatic products

(1) Aquatic animal raw materials (except live aquatic animals);

(2) Primary processed products of aquatic animals, that is, products that have been cut, heated, dried, cooked or pickled (no additives and other raw materials other than salt are used), but whose appearance can identify the prototype of aquatic animals.

Registration requirements for South Korea

According to the China-Korea Sanitation Management Agreement on Import and Export of Aquatic Products (hereinafter referred to as the China-Korea Aquatic Products Agreement):

(1) my country’s export aquatic product processing plants should comply with South Korea’s sanitary management standards. After customs filing and registration, the General Administration of Customs recommends a list of registered factories to South Korea.

(2) The customs regularly inspects the processing plants registered in Korea and the hazardous substances that may be present or mixed in the processing, production, and processing of exported aquatic products to ensure that they meet the requirements.(3) The corresponding Korean management agency conducts random inspections on registered processing plants. When South Korea finds health and safety problems in imported aquatic products, South Korea can suspend the import of aquatic products produced, processed, and packaged from the processing plant until the problem is completely resolved.

Need attention

(1) I need to accept Korean prohibited substances (chloramphenicol, malachite green, nitrofurans) and metal foreign bodies during customs clearance of frozen fresh and frozen aquatic products exported to Korea, and the regulations shall not be detected; chilled fresh, frozen farmed fish and Crustacean antibiotics (oxytetracycline, etc.) inspection; instant frozen fish and mollusc shellfish microbes and pathogenic bacteria inspection; mollusc bivalve shellfish and its products paralytic shellfish toxin inspection; frozen tilapia, tuna Carbon monoxide inspection of block and fish fillet products, vacuum-packed frozen tilapia products; tar pigment inspection of some products, etc.

(2) The "China-Korea Aquatic Products Agreement" stipulates the types of puffer fish that can be exported to Korea. There are 21 types of puffer fish (see the table below for details). The products are chilled, frozen, unprocessed or only guts removed. The official certificate should indicate the scientific name of the puffer fish and the fishing area.

(3) The "Aquatic Products Quality Management Act" of South Korea stipulates that the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries must conduct "safety inspections" on aquatic products in the production stage and the waters, fishing grounds, and equipment where the aquatic products are produced; the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries can follow the applicant's requirements The quality, specifications, ingredients, residues, etc. of aquatic products should be verified at any time; in addition, the law also requires the identification of the origin of aquatic products (except imported live fish) in accordance with the provisions of the "Foreign Trade Law", and also applies to genetically modified aquatic products.
