Mexico’s “Financier” reported on July 6 that in the “2021-2030 Agricultural Outlook” report issued by the OECD and FAO, it was stated that despite the impact of the epidemic, global avocado exports in 2020 will be 2.3 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 0.8 %; Among them, Mexico exported 1.3 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 8.1%, but still far surpassed Peru, Colombia and Kenya to become the world's largest producer and exporter of avocados.
Faced with the rapid growth in global demand for avocados, the report predicts that by 2030, avocados will surpass mangoes and pineapples to become the most traded tropical fruit. It also predicts that Mexican avocados will increase production by an average of 5.2% in the next ten years, accounting for global exports. The share will reach 63% in 2030.
