Vietnamese media reported on May 24 that in the first four months of this year, Vietnamese shrimp exports reached US $1.4 billion, a year-on-year increase of 45%, a record high in the same period of previous years.
Xie He, an expert in vasep shrimp market, said that in the first four months of this year, the export growth of Vietnamese shrimp in the top five export markets (the United States, Japan, the European Union, China and South Korea) ranged from 15% to 91%. Due to strong market demand and good export prices, Vietnam's shrimp exports maintained a stable growth in the first four months of this year.
After experiencing the most tense period of the epidemic, the recovery of market demand, insufficient market supply, rising prices and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine have disturbed the global aquatic supply chain, including shrimp. Among the major markets, the United States is the single market with the largest shrimp imports from Vietnam, accounting for 16%. In the first four months of this year, Vietnamese shrimp exports to the United States exceeded US $291 million, a year-on-year increase of 47%.
China is Vietnam's fourth largest shrimp export market. In April, Vietnam's shrimp exports to China increased sharply by 128%, reaching US $81 million. In the first four months of this year, Vietnamese shrimp exports to China exceeded US $187 million, a year-on-year increase of 91%.
