RCEP adds strength to the "going overseas" of agricultural products

2022-07-05

On June 21, a batch of 7.8 tons of Xinghua chives was exported to Japan after being inspected and released by Taizhou Customs.

"Japan is our important export destination market, and the monthly export volume is about 200 tons. Since the beginning of this year, 120 batches of dehydrated vegetables have been exported to Japan, and they have enjoyed a total of 650,000 yuan of RCEP tax incentives." Jiangsu Xingye Food Cao Hong, a salesman of the export department of the Co., Ltd., said.

The Xinghua area of Taizhou is the largest distribution center for the processing and sales of dehydrated vegetables in the country. The flagship product Xinghua chives is a geographical indication product of Jiangsu, mainly exported to Japan and South Korea, with an annual export value of more than 23 million US dollars. On April 1, Japan lowered its import tariff under RCEP for the second time, and began to apply the tax rate under the second year of the RCEP Japan Tariff Commitment Table.

In this regard, Xingye Food Co., Ltd. feels obvious. "With the help of RCEP, the company has further stabilized the Japanese market, and the number of orders has steadily increased. It is expected that exports will continue to grow in the second half of this year." Cao Hong said.

The agricultural products that enjoy the export dividend of RCEP do not stop there. In Yangzhou, the export of traditional agricultural products such as boiled vegetables and salted vegetables, mainly the national geographical indication product "Baoying lotus root", has also ushered in new opportunities.

"After RCEP takes effect, the company's goods exported to Japan can enjoy tariff reduction and exemption with the RCEP certificate issued by the customs, which is a major benefit to the company." According to Gu Xiuwen, foreign trade manager of Yangzhou Tianhe Food Co., Ltd., the company is located in Yangzhou area. The largest enterprise in the production, processing and sales of boiled vegetables. Since the beginning of this year, the company has had 46 batches of boiled vegetables to enjoy customs clearance in Japan, with a value of 5 million yuan, and it is expected to enjoy a tariff discount of about 50,000 yuan.

It is reported that since the beginning of this year, a total of more than 470 RCEP certificates of origin of exported agricultural products have been issued by Nanjing Customs, involving a value of 178 million yuan, helping enterprises to obtain tariff concessions of 1.06 million yuan. In view of the current characteristics of agricultural products mainly exported to Japan and South Korea, through data analysis, Nanjing Customs has formed a list of target enterprises, and promoted the RCEP tax reduction list of agricultural products exported to Japan on a "point-to-point" basis. In addition, the application of facilitation measures such as self-service printing of certificates of origin and intelligent auditing will help enterprises to further reduce customs clearance costs and shorten processing time, adding further strength to the "going overseas" of Jiangsu's characteristic agricultural products.
