A few days ago, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam and the General Administration of Customs of China signed the Protocol on Phytosanitary Requirements for Vietnamese Durians Exported to China. Previously, the General Administration of Customs of China has approved in writing to officially pilot the import of passion fruit from Vietnam by normal trade from July 2022.
Therefore, all planting areas, durian and passion fruit packaging enterprises exporting to China need to be registered with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam and the General Administration of Customs of China. Registration information includes name, address and code to allow accurate traceability when non-compliant products are found.
Passion fruit and durian are two fruits with high economic value and two dominant crops in parts of Vietnam. Passion fruit is a fruit of interest to many markets, both fresh and processed. China is Vietnam's largest fresh durian consumption market. Especially in Dak Lak province, on average, more than 70% of the durians are exported to the Chinese market in small trade every year. Therefore, it is a good opportunity for the above-mentioned two kinds of fruits to be opened to China for export to China.
