Serbian agriculture minister says grain export ban may be lifted

2022-07-25

Serbia reported on July 19 that Serbian Agriculture Minister Branislav Nedimovic held talks with representatives of the Serbian Farmers Survival Initiative on the same day. After the meeting, Nedimovic announced that the Serbian government will make a resolution on the issue of free grain export at the next meeting, which is also the main demand of Serbian farmers.

Nedimovic said that the talks were very constructive, and the two sides had full communication and reached an agreement on technical issues related to agricultural loans and the postponement of rent payments for state-owned agricultural land in extremely arid areas.

In addition, Vukasin Bacina, chairman of the "Serbian Farmers' Survival Initiative", proposed at the meeting that he hoped that the government would approve the return of the milk surcharge to the level of 15 dinars in the first quarter of this year. In this regard, Nedimovic promised to give an answer within a week.
