On the 2nd local time, at a factory in Kenya, four containers of avocados were packed and shipped on the same day and will be sold to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and other cities. This is the first time that African fresh avocados have been exported to China.
It is understood that the first batch of fresh avocados were shipped in 4 containers, weighing about 88 tons, using the most advanced fruit transportation containers and fresh-keeping technology from China, reaching the highest level of avocado exports from Kenya.
Kenya is the sixth largest exporter of avocados in the world and the largest exporter of avocados in Africa. The booming avocado farming industry has boosted farmers' income and created a large number of jobs. Richard, the head of the Kenyan avocado plantation, said that due to the price advantage of Kenyan avocados, avocados have become the main agricultural product exported by Kenya. Plus, avocados are easier to manage and grow for small farmers.
