Exports of Vietnamese sea crabs to China, the United States and Japan soar

According to statistics from the Vietnam Association of Aquatic Products Processing and Export (VASEP), as of July 15, Vietnam’s sea crab exports totaled more than US$111 million, a year-on-year increase of 41%.

China, the United States, Japan and France are the four major export markets for Vietnamese sea crabs, accounting for more than 92% of the total export value of sea crabs, showing a sharp increase year-on-year.

Among them, China’s imports of sea crabs from Vietnam increased the most, reaching 76%, earning US$37 million in foreign exchange. The import value of sea crabs from the United States to Vietnam was US$38 million, a year-on-year increase of 27%. Followed by the Japanese and French markets, imports increased by 51% and 60% year-on-year, respectively.

It is reported that China began to relax quarantine regulations on Vietnamese seafood in July, aiming to promote trade between the two countries.
