According to the convention, the winter pickle season in South Korea is coming, but the price of cabbage is still more than 50% higher than last year. According to import and export data, except for cabbage, the price of pickled vegetables such as radish and onion remains high, and the import of pickles from China continues to grow.
The report quoted the South Korean Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Circulation Commune on the 20th, saying that, based on the import and export data on the 19th, the price of cabbage has fallen back to one third of the previous month's high, but it is still about 55% higher than a year ago.
It is reported that the pickle season is approaching. Although the Korean government has promised to stabilize the price of cabbage, the price chaos caused by the increased demand for finished pickles is still difficult to ease.
The report notes that more and more consumers choose to buy finished pickles directly because of the high pickling cost. Some popular finished pickles are often sold out. The import and export data show that the import of pickles from China increased significantly last month.
According to the import and export statistics of the Korean Customs Office, the import of pickles from China in September was 23600 tons, increasing for two consecutive months after August (22800 tons).
Import and export data show that the price of Chinese cabbage has risen "by rocket" since August. With restaurants and catering units as the center, the demand for Chinese pickles continues to expand. It is expected that the scale of Chinese pickles imported this year will be higher than last year.
