2022-11-14

At the Sino Indonesian agricultural trade promotion activity held in Beijing, China signed a number of cooperation agreements and procurement contracts with a number of Indonesian agricultural producers' associations and traders, and international trade developed steadily.

This trade promotion activity was jointly sponsored by the China Chamber of Commerce for the Import and Export of Food, Soil and Animal Husbandry, Indonesia's palm oil, fishery production, processing and sales, blue swimming crab, seaweed and other industry associations. Wang Shouwen, the International Trade Negotiator and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce of China, Zurkifuli Hassan, the Minister of the Ministry of Trade of Indonesia, Lu Kang, the Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, and Zhou Haoli, the Indonesian Ambassador to China, attended the event online and delivered video speeches. More than 70 people from both countries, including government officials, representatives of agricultural producers' associations, and agricultural traders, participated in the event online and offline.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Indonesia 72 years ago, the bilateral relations have continued to deepen. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China and Indonesia have built a new pattern of bilateral international trade relations featuring "four wheel drive" of political, economic, people to people and maritime cooperation. In the field of economy and trade, China has become an important trade partner of Indonesia, and bilateral international trade cooperation has been constantly strengthened. China and Indonesia are both big agricultural countries, and their agricultural trade is highly complementary. In recent years, agricultural trade has become increasingly important in China Indonesia economic and trade cooperation. In the past 10 years, the average annual growth rate of agricultural products imported from Indonesia by China has reached 8%, and the development potential of Indonesian high-quality agricultural products such as palm oil and aquatic products in the Chinese market is huge. In 2021, the total trade volume of agricultural products between the two countries will reach 11.9 billion US dollars, up 46% year on year.

China further promotes high-level opening up, attracts global resource elements with domestic circulation, enhances the linkage effect of domestic and international markets and resources, improves the quality and level of trade and investment cooperation, and provides Indonesia with broad space to expand exports to China and deepen bilateral economic and trade relations. This activity aims to build a platform for the agricultural product industries of the two countries to strengthen cooperation, enhance understanding, and open up international trade markets, further promote practical cooperation in bilateral trade and investment, and promote high-quality development of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

At the meeting, China Chamber of Commerce for Eating Soil signed a cooperation agreement with Indonesian Palm Oil Association and eight Indonesian agricultural product associations, including Indonesian Vegetable Oil Industry Association, Edible Oil Industry Association, Fatty Chemical Manufacturers Association, Fishery Production, Processing and Marketing Association, Blue Swimming Crab Association, Seaweed Association and Benthic Association. 18 Sino Indonesian companies, including COFCO Oil Specialization Company, Yihai Kerry (Shanghai) International Trade Co., Ltd., CCFCO Oil Co., Ltd., Xiamen International Trade Group Co., Ltd. and Zhongyan Resources Trade Co., Ltd., signed 16 purchase contracts for palm oil and products.
