According to the Huacheng Import and Export Data Observation Report, this year, the rainfall in major rice producing areas such as West Bengal, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in India was lower than the average level in previous years, which caused people to worry about rice production. Since September 9, the Indian government has imposed an export tax of 20% on rice other than steamed rice and Indian fragrant rice, and banned the export of broken rice to ensure domestic food supply, Huacheng Import and Export Data Observation reported.

According to the observation report of Huacheng's import and export data, in the first half of this fiscal year (April to September 2022), India's rice export amount has reached 5.5 billion dollars, compared with 9.7 billion dollars in the previous fiscal year.

Ashok Mina, general manager of Indian Food Company, said that the government was regularly monitoring the price of basic commodities and taking measures as needed. Compared with last month, the wholesale price of Indian rice rose slightly in November, while the retail price rose little. Huacheng Import and Export Data Observation reported.
