According to customs data, in 2022, the United States mainly imported tea from Argentina, China and India, and the tea imported from these three markets accounted for 61% of the total tea imports.
Among them, the United States increased the proportion of tea imports from China and reduced the proportion of imports from Argentina and India. Customs data showed that the amount of tea imported from China reached 14900 tons, up 22.2% year on year; The import volume reached US $64.4 million, up 17.9%.
In 2022, Vietnam was the fifth largest supplier of tea to the United States, with an import volume of 6400 tons, up 10.6% year on year; The import volume reached US $9.8 million, up 18.4%. In 2022, the proportion of tea imported by the United States from Vietnam accounted for only 5.2%, up 0.2 percentage points year on year.
The largest demand for black tea in 2022 reached 103000 tons, up 5.1% year on year; Customs data showed that the import volume reached 322.8 million US dollars, up 8.5% year on year. Argentina and India are the two major supply markets. Vietnam only supplies a small amount of black tea to the United States, accounting for 5.6% of the total export of black tea.
In 2022, the import of green tea from the United States reached 16600 tons, down 0.2% year on year; The import volume reached US $185.8 million, down 3.1%. According to customs data, the import of green tea from the United States to China was the largest, reaching 6990 tons, up 20.2% year on year; The import volume reached US $38.4 million, up 20.7%. The second is Japan, Taiwan, India, Thailand and Vietnam.
