Brazil's footwear exports are recovering, and the United States is its main export market

The executive chairman of the association, Haroldo Ferreira (Haroldo Ferreira) pointed out that the international footwear market led by the United States is recovering, which is the main export destination of Brazilian footwear products. "The Brazilian shoe products imported by the United States have been 14% higher than the level before the epidemic. Compared with 2019, Brazil's exports of footwear products to the United States have increased for six consecutive months." Ferreira said, "Therefore, the prospects for a full recovery of the industry are still unclear."

Specifically, from January to August this year, Brazil exported 9.13 million pairs of footwear products to the United States, a year-on-year increase of 55%, and the export value was US$133 million, a year-on-year increase of 40%.

With the gradual recovery of the domestic market, imports of Brazilian footwear products have also increased. In a single month in August, Brazil imported 1.78 million pairs of footwear products with an import value of US$26.24 million. Compared with the same period last year, Brazil has achieved excellent performance in both export volume (+35.7%) and value (+12.4%). In a single month in August, Brazil imported 430,400 pairs of footwear products from China, a year-on-year increase of 167.3%, and the import value was US$2.42 million, a year-on-year increase of 21.8%.

In the first eight months of 2021, Brazil's imports of footwear accessories (shoe uppers, soles, heels, insoles, etc.) totaled US$15 million, a year-on-year increase of 12.4%. The main producing areas are China, Paraguay and Vietnam.
