German sportswear and footwear makers Adidas and Puma are accepting applications from Russian retailers for their 2023 collections. Around May 30, Izvestia quoted a source at one of the online companies as saying.
According to sources in the newspaper, Adidas and Puma are still shipping goods to Russian stores. Basically, as the source specifies, the company goes through distributors.
"We have started the sales process for the Spring/Summer 2023 collection with our global wholesale partners. Some of these partners are international groups operating in different countries around the world, including Russia," Puma said in an emailed statement express.
Mikhail Rogozhin, co-head of CORE.XP's retail division, confirmed that German brands supply multi-brand stores, while single-brand stores remain closed.
Adidas announced its withdrawal from the Russian market on March 7. The manufacturer wrote on LinkedIn that it will suspend all offline stores in Russia and close its online store in the country indefinitely.
On May 18, the source told Izvestia that the German brand hopes to return to full work in Russia. According to the agency's interlocutors, the company has almost completed the process of changing the supply chain, especially in reserved warehouses and distribution centers in countries where it plans to organize shipments to Russia.
Puma announced on March 5 that it was terminating the supply of goods to Russia and suspending its stores.
Who else left Russia
In general, after the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, more than 500 foreign companies have announced the suspension or termination of their activities in Russia. Among the foreign brands that left, IKEA, Apple, Procter & Gamble, Nestle, Coca-Cola, Danone, Disney, McDonald's, Sony, and Asus were named the most.
Some companies have sold operations to Russian partners. The same goes for McDonald's, for example, and Polish clothing manufacturer and retailer LPP SA, which owns brands such as Reserved, Mohito, Cropp, House and Sinsay.
