2022-06-29

Using LyondellBasell's CirculenRecover polyamide material, sports gear specialist TSL has created a new snow shoe that will benefit outdoor enthusiasts. The soles of the new snowshoes not only use recycled materials, but also add a stylish design while maintaining performance.

As a global leader in the development and manufacture of snow shoes, TSL's values are closely related to respect for nature, health and innovation. So it was only natural for TSL to invest in using recycled materials to create a new snowshoe sample. The challenge for this project was to find a plastic material made from recycled materials, but also meeting all the technical and visual requirements. LyondellBasell's CirculenRecover product range, based on mechanically recycled raw materials, brings the solution.

Bruno Viala, LyondellBasell's business development manager, said: "Snow shoes in general, especially the sole part, are obviously used in extreme conditions. They need to be very resistant to impact and low temperature, and To be durable. These requirements are often not compatible with plastics made from recycled materials. After several meetings and trials, we, together with TSL, selected CirculenRecover EP PA MV SHI Grade H for this project. This product contains approximately 80% The recycled material meets the quality and design standards that TSL customers demand.”

Yoan Bibollet, Head of Development at TSL, said: “This is the first time we have worked with LyondellBasell on a new product and we have been impressed with the materials and extensive experience of their team. The plastic material we chose for the sole meets the All conditions. And to meet the current needs in snowshoe design, we are also looking for a deep black material. The samples apparently have no problems with the tests by our experts in harsh real life conditions. Also, It’s exceptionally easy to machine, which makes our manufacturing team very happy.”

TSL's sustainable snowshoes are now in mass production and will be available in winter 2022/2023.
