India's Chief Minister MK Stalin announced on Thursday that it will spend 4 billion rupees to build a large 250-acre shoe-making industrial park in Panapakkam, Ranipet District. There are many tanneries and leather processing enterprises gathered in the Ranipet district, as well as the Amber and Vanyambadi communities of Tirupatul, and the establishment of the shoe industry park provides a huge market for the local tanneries.
The Chief Minister said the new shoe industry park will provide 20,000 jobs, most of which will be for women. The region's tanning and footwear production technology is in a leading position in the country, and the future footwear industrial park will become one of the main centers of footwear production and export.
Israr Ahmed, regional chairman of the Indian Leather Export Council, said that the establishment of a shoe industry park in Ranipet will reduce the import of shoe materials and accessories from China and reduce logistics costs. Various shoe material components used in footwear products, such as soles, metal trim, heels and synthetic materials, are sourced from China. With the completion of the shoe-making industrial park, the entry of many multinational enterprises will help and solve the supporting problems of the shoe-making industry in the local area.
Israr explains why Panapakam is an ideal location for a shoe industry park. Because, not only is it close to Chennai, but the workforce is plentiful. There are many tanneries and related business industries in the Ranipet district, as well as in the Amber and Vanyambadi districts of Tirupatul. An industry executive who did not want to be named said the government should not only ensure that the project benefits major shoe manufacturers, but also attract more auxiliary materials industries to enter.
