Chemical giant BASF has entered the shoe industry with advanced technology!

2022-08-17

According to media reports: On August 5, 2022, chemical giant BASF announced that it will work with footwear design company Maddy Plant to explore the possibility of BASF’s innovative material solutions, and use industry-leading technology to achieve energy-saving production, and develop a new concept of sports and leisure Shoes series "MADGAMMA-Intertekk Saturn".

The shoe uses bio-based Elastollan® polyurethane in the midsole, calf and outsole. The shoe's upper is also made with 100% recycled monofilament Freeflex™ PU. Freeflex TPU elastane is used as an alternative to dry spandex due to its soft stretch properties.

Minli Zhao, Vice President, Consumer Products, Asia Pacific, Performance Materials, BASF, said: “This concept shoe demonstrates our successful idea to make footwear both sustainable and high-performance. Our goal is to bring these advanced technologies into mainstream footwear production. ."
