According to the import and export data recently released by the National Bureau of Statistics, the cumulative growth rate of total retail sales of consumer goods in the first eight months of this year turned from negative to positive. Among them, in August, the total retail sales of consumer goods was 3,625.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.4%, and the growth rate was 2.7 percentage points higher than that of the previous month.


According to Huacheng Import and Export data, in terms of clothing retail, the retail sales of clothing, shoes and hats, and knitted textiles reached 96.3 billion yuan in August, a year-on-year increase of 5.1%. At the same time, the data monitored by the China National Commercial Information Center also showed that the retail sales of clothing in August increased by 2.1% year-on-year, which was 3.6 percentage points higher than that in July.


Judging from the domestic consumption market data this year, the market consumption situation in the first half of the year was greatly affected by the epidemic, but with the continuous promotion of the national consumption promotion policy and the increase in tax reduction and fee reduction, the market consumption demand has gradually recovered and picked up.


Import and export data show that the domestic market sales accelerated in June, and the sales growth rate turned from negative to positive. The total retail sales of consumer goods in the month increased by 3.1% year-on-year, and on the basis of the narrowed decline in May compared to April, the decline turned into an increase.


Among them, the retail sales of units above designated size increased by 8.8% year-on-year, compared with a year-on-year decrease of 5.3% in May. The growth rate of retail sales of nearly 90% of commodities in June was better than that in May, and the growth rate of retail sales of clothing and used commodities rebounded significantly. For example, the retail sales of clothing, shoes, hats, needles and textiles above designated size increased by 1.2% in June, while the decline in May 16.2%.


Import and export data show that in July, the total retail sales of social consumer goods increased by 2.7% year-on-year, of which the retail sales of consumer goods other than automobiles increased by 1.9%; the monthly retail sales of clothing, shoes, hats, needles and textiles achieved a year-on-year increase of 0.8%.


In August, the retail sales of clothing, shoes, hats, needles and textiles increased by 5.1%, which was basically the same as the 5.4% increase in the total retail sales of consumer goods, and better than the 4.3% increase in the retail sales of consumer goods excluding automobiles.


As the "main engine" driving economic growth in recent years, stabilizing consumption is very important to stabilizing the fundamentals of the economy.
