According to customs data, with the increase of market demand in EU countries, the export revenue of Türkiye's footwear industry is expected to increase from US $1 billion to US $1.3 billion this year. Belk recalled that eight years ago, Türkiye's footwear imports exceeded its exports, but in 2021 it achieved a foreign trade surplus of 500 million dollars. The demand for footwear products in European countries began to grow this year, especially in Germany and the United Kingdom. Türkiye has five major export markets for footwear products, four of which are EU member states. According to customs data, in the first eight months, Türkiye's footwear products exported to Germany increased by more than 44% year-on-year to US $65.7 million, while in the same period, its exports to Italy increased by 69% year-on-year to US $36.3 million.

Belk said that the shoemaking industry initially set the export revenue target of $1.3 billion in 2022. According to customs data, the export revenue in the first eight months of this year has reached $800 million. The export revenue in September will exceed 100 million dollars. The 67th Footwear Fashion Expo, which opened on September 28, has brought new trading orders to shoemaking enterprises and helped to achieve this year's export target.
