The spokesperson of the National Energy Administration introduced at the second-quarter online press conference held on the 29th that my country's installed renewable energy capacity has steadily expanded. As of the end of the first quarter of 2021, my country's installed renewable energy power generation capacity reached 948 million kilowatts. According to industry statistics, the nation’s renewable energy power generation reached 475.47 billion kWh in the first quarter.
According to reports, as of the end of the first quarter of 2021, hydropower installed capacity was 371 million kilowatts (including 31.79 million kilowatts of pumped storage), 287 million kilowatts of wind power, 259 million kilowatts of photovoltaic power generation, and 31.485 million kilowatts of biomass power generation.
In the first quarter, the country’s newly added hydropower grid-connected capacity was 1.09 million kilowatts, wind power’s new grid-connected installed capacity was 5.26 million kilowatts, photovoltaic power’s newly installed capacity was 5.33 million kilowatts, and biomass power generation’s newly installed capacity was 1.966 million kilowatts.
Renewable energy power generation continues to grow while maintaining a high level of utilization. The data shows that in the first quarter of 2021, the country’s major river basins abandoned about 1.249 billion kWh of electricity, and the hydropower utilization rate was about 98.95%, a decrease of 0.79 percentage points from the same period last year; the national abandonment of wind power was about 7.2 billion kWh, with an average utilization rate. 96%, an increase of 0.7% over the same period last year;
