Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as "Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics") announced on the 26th that recently, Li Xianfeng's research team signed a new generation of liquid flow battery technology license contract with ecosourcen, which is controlled by colder group in Belgium, to jointly promote the promotion and application of the technology in the European market. This is the first time that the new generation of liquid flow battery energy storage technology of Dalian Institute of chemical physics has been exported to developed countries.

The inherent randomness, intermittency, volatility and difficulty of direct grid connection of renewable energy such as wind energy and solar energy restrict the development and utilization of renewable energy to a certain extent. The new generation of liquid flow battery is a large-scale energy storage technology with high safety, high cost performance, high energy efficiency and long life. It can store unstable renewable energy and realize stable output and utilization.

Li Xianfeng, researcher of Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, introduced that unlike traditional batteries, the new generation of liquid flow batteries store liquid electrolytes externally. The energy storage medium is aqueous solution, which has high safety and long service life. It can also be combined on demand to achieve independent control of power and capacity. It has broad application prospects in the field of power system energy storage.

According to the contract, both parties will build a zero carbon demonstration park around renewable energy, hydrogen energy and energy storage in combination with the technical advantages of the new generation of liquid flow battery of Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics and the rich experience of keder group in the construction field. In addition, the two sides also signed a technology development contract on the research of new organic flow battery to jointly promote the sustainable development of low-cost, high-energy density flow battery technology.

Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics said that the new generation of liquid flow battery energy storage technology is exported to developed countries for the first time, which will promote the industrial application of the new generation of liquid flow battery. More than 200 invention patents have been applied for and more than 100 invention patents have been authorized for related technologies; Led the formulation of 19 liquid flow battery related standards, including the first international standard of liquid flow battery, which improved the voice of China's liquid flow battery technology in the world.
