At the recent press conference on the theme of "This Decade of China", Han Xia, chief engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, introduced the current situation of my country's communication infrastructure.

Han Xia pointed out that my country has built the world's largest and technologically advanced network infrastructure. The historic completion of the "Optical Entry and Copper Retreat" renovation project, all prefecture-level cities have fully built optical network cities, users with access rates of 100M and above have grown from scratch, accounting for 93.4%, and the number of gigabit users has exceeded 50 million.

The scale of 4G base stations accounts for more than half of the global total, the number of 5G base stations has reached 1.615 million, and the number of 5G mobile phone users has exceeded 400 million.

From the perspective of achievements, Han Xia introduced that my country's mobile communication technology has changed from "3G breakthrough" and "4G synchronization" to "5G leadership", and the proportion of 5G standard essential patents declared by Chinese enterprises has reached 38.2%.

The world's largest and most complete optical communication industry system has been built, and some key technologies such as optical communication equipment, optical module devices, and optical fiber cables have reached the international advanced level, and a number of global leading companies have emerged.

In addition, my country has historically achieved the “broadband access to every village” in administrative villages. The proportion of primary and secondary schools connected to broadband has increased from 25% to 100%, and telemedicine has covered all poverty-stricken counties. The network speed increase and fee reduction were implemented in depth, the average download rate of the broadband network increased by nearly 40 times, and the average tariff per unit traffic of the mobile network dropped by more than 95%.
