Statistics from Shanghai Customs show that the production situation of key industries in Shanghai is relatively good, which directly drives the import of production materials, while the import situation of local consumer goods has also improved significantly.

Statistics from Shanghai Customs show that the production situation of key industries in Shanghai is relatively good, which directly drives the import of production materials, while the import situation of local consumer goods has also improved significantly.

In August, the development of key industries in Shanghai further accelerated, driving the import of related production raw materials, parts, equipment and other intermediate products. For example, the import growth rate of semiconductor manufacturing equipment and storage components required for the production of the computer communication industry is as high as 112.7% and 65.4% respectively, and the import of lithium carbonate required for the development of the new energy industry has increased by 18.4 times.

According to customs data, in terms of imported consumer goods, as an important port for automobile imports in the country, in August, Shanghai imported a total of 15,000 automobiles with a value of 8.14 billion yuan, an increase of 65.7% and 86.8% respectively, driving the city's imports to increase by 1.7 percentage point. At the same time, in the past six months, the international gold price has fluctuated and declined, which has greatly stimulated consumer investment, value preservation and corporate imports. In August, Shanghai's gold imports reached 18.96 billion yuan, an increase of 43.7%. In addition, rising import prices of energy products also boosted growth. In August, the import prices of natural gas, refined oil, coal and other energy products in Shanghai rose by 68.8%, 35.8% and 21.1% respectively, which became the main reason for the increase in import value.

According to customs data, in terms of exports, in August this year, Shanghai's export value reached 174.27 billion yuan, an increase of 26.2%. Under the influence of factors such as the stocking of new machines, the increase in orders, and the rise in export prices, the export momentum of computer communication technology products was further released. In August, under the circumstance of weakening global demand for consumer electronic products, Shanghai's export of automatic data processing equipment and its components reached 23.51 billion yuan, an increase of 67.2%, reflecting the strong export resilience of Shanghai's computer communication industry. In addition, due to the increasingly mature upstream and downstream supporting facilities of Shanghai's new energy industry, the international competitiveness of products is strong, and the export growth rate is also significantly ahead of the overall export growth rate of foreign trade. In August, Shanghai's exports of electric passenger vehicles, lithium batteries, and solar cells were 12.83 billion, 3.72 billion, and 990 million, with growth rates of 88.8%, 722.7%, and 47.4%, respectively, driving the city's exports to increase by 7 percentage points.

At present, Shanghai's electric passenger vehicle exports have accounted for 64.1% of the country's total exports of similar products.
