The US International Trade Commission said recently that the regulatory authorities will investigate Samsung, Qualcomm and TSMC on certain semiconductor devices and integrated circuits, as well as mobile devices using these components.
The United States International Trade Commission stated that it received complaints from local enterprises last month that the chip imported and sold by TSMC, Samsung, Qualcomm and other enterprises to the United States, as well as the mobile devices and components containing these cores, violated its patent and violated Article 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930, requiring the United States International Trade Commission to issue injunctions and stop sales orders.
The United States International Trade Commission said that it decided to investigate semiconductors and chips produced by Samsung, TSMC and Qualcomm after the vote; At present, no decision has been made on the substantive issues of the case. The Chief Administrative Judge of the Commission will designate an administrative judge to be responsible for arranging the time for the hearing. It will arrange an appropriate and feasible time to make a final decision on the investigation as soon as possible, and determine the end date of the investigation within 45 days after filing.
It is said that if the United States International Trade Commission ruled that these devices infringed the patent of the enterprise, they may be prohibited from importing into the United States according to law. The devices targeted include smart phones, tablets and smart watches, such as Samsung's Galaxy S20 FE and Galaxy A71 5G mobile phones, and chips made by TSMC for Qualcomm and other American companies. Currently, Samsung and TSMC lawyers have not responded to requests for comment.
