According to the latest report data released by the market research organization IDC, the global smartphone market shipments reached 313.2 million units in the second quarter of 2021, a year-on-year increase of 13.2%, slightly higher than the previous IDC forecast of 12.5%.
In the second quarter of 2021, the top five manufacturers in the global smartphone market shipments are: Samsung, Xiaomi, Apple, OPPO, and vivo.

Samsung shipped 59 million units in the global smart phone market in Q2 2021, an increase of 9.3% year-on-year, and its market share of 18.8% continued to rank first.
Xiaomi shipped 53.1 million units in the global smartphone market in Q2 of 2021, an increase of 86.6% year-on-year, with a market share of 16.9%, making it the world's top two for the first time.
Apple shipped 44.2 million units in the global smartphone market in Q2 of 2021, a year-on-year increase of 17.8%, ranking third with a market share of 14.1%.
OPPO's Q2 global smartphone market shipped 32.8 million units in Q2 2021, a year-on-year increase of 37.0%, and its market share of 10.5% ranked fourth.
Vivo’s global smartphone market shipments in Q2 of 2021 are 31.6 million units, a year-on-year increase of 33.7%, ranking fifth with a market share of 10.1%.
IDC pointed out that in the second quarter of this year, all markets except China contributed to overall growth. China’s lack of flagship product launches, weaker-than-expected demand, and a further decline in the Huawei brand. These factors led to the Q2 market this year and the second in 2020. Compared to the quarter, it fell by 10%.
IDC also pointed out that the role of the Chinese market in Apple's incredible growth over the past few quarters cannot be denied. Huawei occupies a considerable share of China's high-end market. As Huawei's sales have fallen sharply, Apple is still the best choice for consumers in this field. In the first quarter, Apple's market share of more than $800 in China has accounted for 72%, while Huawei has dropped to 24%. This is a clear sign that other participants in the market have not broken this price range.
