According to IDC's latest report data, the global tablet market shipped 80.35 million units in the first half of the year, an increase of 24.4% year-on-year. Among them, the total shipment of tablet PCs in the second quarter was about 40.4 million units, still maintaining a year-on-year growth of 3.9%.
In China, the overall domestic market shipments in the first half of the year were 13.4 million units, a year-on-year increase of 29.7%. Among them, the tablet computer market shipped approximately 7.15 million units in the second quarter, an increase of 8.3% year-on-year, and continued to increase steadily. IDC predicts that due to increasingly stable market demand, channel inventory recovery and annual new products are basically concentrated in the second half of the year, competition in the Chinese tablet market will enter a fierce stage in the next few months.
At the end of last month, Strategy released a research report on tablets. The report also pointed out the strong growth performance of Samsung and Lenovo in the tablet market.
Data show that in the second quarter of this year, Samsung’s shipments reached 8.2 million units, an increase of 19% year-on-year, and its market share was 18%, ranking second in the world. Lenovo's shipments were 4.7 million units, an increase of 67% year-on-year, occupying 10% of the market share and ranking third.
Of course, Apple is still the leader in the tablet computer market. Its shipments reached 15.8 million units, an increase of 11% year-on-year, and its global share reached 35%.
