Brazil's National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) announced on the 4th local time that from July 6th, Brazil's 5G mobile communication signal will be officially launched in the capital Brasilia. As a result, Brasilia will become the first city in Brazil to enable 5G technology.

Brazil's National Telecommunications Agency said on the 4th that after Brasilia, Sao Paulo, the capital of the state of Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais, Porto Alegre, the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, and Palo Alto. The city of João Pessoa, the capital of Raiba state, will successively open 5G mobile communication signals.

The Brazilian National Telecommunications Agency also announced that by the end of July this year, the capital cities of 26 states in Brazil will open 5G mobile communication signals. Before the end of September this year, 5G technology will be activated nationwide in Brazil.

Brazil's National Telecommunications Agency said that since hardware equipment mainly relies on imports and the current supply exceeds demand, the plan for 5G coverage across Brazil will also be delayed until 2029.

In November 2021, the National Telecommunications Agency of Brazil held an auction for the operation license of the fifth-generation mobile communication (5G) frequency band in Brazil. Claro, Vivo and TIM, the three major Brazilian telecom operators, successfully won the bid, and the operation right is valid for 20 years. (
