Mozambique's Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education signed the "Memorandum of Understanding on Digital Innovation and Capacity Building Cooperation" with China's Huawei in the capital Maputo on the 13th.
Chinese Ambassador to Mozambique Wang Hejun, Mozambican Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education Niwagara and Huawei Southern Africa President Chen Lei attended the signing ceremony.
In his speech at the ceremony, Wang Hejun pointed out that the signing of this memorandum of cooperation will help Mozambique to promote safe and efficient digital governance, promote open and inclusive digital development, and reserve talents for Mozambique's digital transformation. In the future, China will take the implementation of the "Nine Projects" of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation as an opportunity to promote the establishment of a policy framework for China-Mozambique digital economic cooperation and encourage Chinese-funded enterprises to expand investment in the digital field in Mozambique.
Niwagara said that the cooperation will help Mozambique implement the government's five-year plan (2020-2024).
Chen Lei said that in the next three years, Huawei will help Mozambique achieve the goal of connecting 4.5 million people in remote areas, narrow the digital divide, improve the living environment of people in remote areas, and improve rural labor productivity; Huawei will also help Mozambique to realize the government's digital services on the cloud platform The rapid development and launch of the system simplifies the government's cross-departmental cooperation process and improves work efficiency.
