Concerning the safety of electronic products, the newly revised mandatory national standard is intro

2022-07-28

The State Administration for Market Regulation recently released the newly revised mandatory national standard "Audio Video, Information Technology and Communication Technology Equipment Part 1: Safety Requirements", which will be officially implemented on August 1, 2023. This standard will comprehensively improve the security level of electronic product design, production, testing and certification, sales, and use, and maintain the bottom line of security.

This is what the reporter learned from the State Administration for Market Regulation on the 26th. Guo Huanxin, a first-level inspector of the Standards and Technology Management Department of the State Administration for Market Regulation, introduced that the new national standard is based on the integration and revision of the original two mandatory national standards, covering all products of audio, video, information technology and communication technology equipment. Dangerous sources such as electric shock, fire, overheating, sound and light radiation that may occur in the use of various electronic products are presented, and corresponding protection requirements and test methods are proposed.

In recent years, the wireless charging function has been widely used. Consumers may place metal objects such as keys and coins on the wireless charger. The energy transmission of the wireless charger may cause the metal objects to generate high temperatures and bring dangers such as burns and fires. In this regard, the new national standard clearly requires that wireless chargers need to have the function of identifying metal foreign objects, and stop energy transmission to foreign objects in time.

With the popularization of multimedia functions of electronic devices, products such as headphones and Bluetooth headsets are favored by consumers. The new national standard puts forward safety requirements, requiring that when the volume of the earphone exceeds the specified limit within a certain period of time, the electronic product should give a warning and ask the user to confirm, and automatically reduce the volume to a safe volume if not confirmed.

For portable electronic products powered by rechargeable batteries, the new national standard focuses on battery safety issues, and specifies safety requirements such as battery overcharge protection, temperature protection, shell fire protection, and drop protection.

According to reports, the State Administration for Market Regulation will track the implementation of the new national standard with relevant departments, and guide the CCC-designated certification bodies and laboratories for electronic products to strengthen the construction of certification and testing capabilities in accordance with the requirements of the new national standard.
