News on August 1st, Strategy Analytics released a report today saying that due to the impact of the new crown epidemic, China's smartphone shipments in Q2 2022 will drop by 14% year-on-year to 67.7 million units.
Among them, Honor became China's largest smartphone manufacturer for the first time with a market share of 19%. vivo, OPPO (including OnePlus), Xiaomi and Apple rounded out the top five.
According to Strategy Analytics, this is the first time Honor has taken the top spot in the domestic market since its separation from Huawei in 2021. In Q2 2022, Honor will ship 13.1 million smartphones in China, significantly surpassing the overall market with an annual growth rate of 93%.
In addition, vivo, OPPO and Xiaomi followed with shipments of 12.7 million, 12.2 million and 10.6 million units respectively.
The report pointed out that Apple’s iPhone shipped 10.4 million units in the quarter, ranking fifth. But it has rebounded strongly since June. Its shipments will only drop by 1% year-on-year in Q2 2022, significantly outperforming the overall market.

Strategy Analytics predicts that China's smartphone shipments will decline by 10% to 11% year-on-year in 2022. The negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and macroeconomic headwinds will continue until the end of 2022, but is expected to ease from Q2 2023.
