The new trend of international trade, according to the forecast of many industry institutions, the global 5G users will exceed 1 billion in a few years, and China will contribute half of them. According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as of the end of July, China had 475 million 5G mobile phone users.
By the end of this year, the number of global 5G users will exceed 1 billion, and five years later, in 2027, it will reach 4.4 billion, accounting for nearly half of the world's 9.1 billion mobile connections.
The report predicts that in five years, the number of 5G subscribers will account for 90% of the total number of mobile users in North America, 82% of the total number of mobile users in Western Europe, 80% of the total number of mobile users in the Gulf region, and the total number of mobile users in Northeast Asia. 74%.
Analyst firm CCS Insight's latest global international trade market forecast report is even more aggressive, arguing that by the end of 2022, the number of global 5G network connections will reach 1.2 billion, nearly doubling from 2021.
Ericsson also confirmed that 5G is expanding faster than any previous generation of mobile technology. Currently, about a quarter of the world's population has access to 5G, and in the first quarter of 2022 alone, the number of 5G subscriptions will increase by about 70 million. About three-quarters of the world's population will have access to 5G by 2027, the report said.
At the same time, both companies' forecasts show that 5G network usage is diversifying as the number of 5G fixed wireless access and cellular IoT connections grows.
CCS Insight predicts that in 2022, global 5G fixed wireless access will increase by 160% to 7 million. "Competition in fixed wireless is heating up, especially in North America," said Manning Smith, senior analyst at the agency. "T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T are seeing 5G fixed wireless access as an integral part of their 5G strategy. , which is already bearing fruit, with T-Mobile reporting over 1 million customers.” CCS Insight predicts that by 2026, there will be 83 million 5G fixed wireless connections worldwide, helping the international trade market.
Machine-to-machine (M2M) and cellular Internet of Things (IoT) applications also hold promise for 5G. CCS Insight expects the number of 5G IoT connections to reach 9 million by the end of 2022. The number of 5G M2M and IoT connections will reach 455 million by 2026, with China leading the way in 5G IoT development with significant investments in manufacturing and other high-tech industries.
According to the Mobile Market Report, fixed wireless access is playing an increasingly important role in the provision of broadband services. At the end of 2021, fixed wireless access traffic already accounts for nearly 20% of the total global mobile data network traffic. Ericsson forecasts that the number of fixed wireless access connections will exceed 100 million in 2022, and that number will more than double to nearly 230 million by 2027.
In terms of IoT, the Mobile Market Report states that broadband IoT (4G/5G) will surpass 2G and 3G in 2021 as the technology connecting the most cellular IoT devices, accounting for 44% of all connections.
New trends in international trade, as the total number of connections grows, 4G and 5G connections dominate the mobile field, people's demand for data connections continues to increase, and the amount of mobile data is growing at an alarming rate.
According to the Ericsson team, total mobile network data traffic, including fixed wireless access connections, doubled to 93 exabytes per month between the first quarter of 2020 and the first quarter of 2022. With the emergence of data-hungry applications such as virtual, augmented and mixed reality applications, this number is expected to reach a staggering 368 exabytes per month by 2027, when 60% of data traffic on global mobile networks will be transmitted over 5G networks , to help the development of the international trade market.
