According to the observation of Huacheng import and export data, the shipment of high-end smartphones in major markets in Southeast Asia will grow by 29% year on year in the third quarter of 2022. On the other hand, the total smartphone shipments fell by 10% year on year in this quarter.
According to the import and export data, in the third quarter of 2022, the shipments of high-end smartphones in Southeast Asia's main markets of more than $400 (about 2800 yuan) grew by 29% year on year, while the shipments of ordinary smartphones below $200 (about 1400 yuan) fell by 24%.
In the face of macroeconomic difficulties, the business and consumption sentiment in Southeast Asia is sluggish, investment is slowing down, and foreign direct investment in some countries is weak, which together lead to excess inventory of smartphone brand manufacturers before the fourth quarter of 2022. However, in difficult times, the shipment of high-end smart phones still achieved a significant year-on-year increase, highlighting the consumer resilience of this segment of the market, Huacheng Import and Export Data Observation reported.
According to the Huacheng Import and Export Data Observation Report, from the perspective of mobile phone brands, Samsung's shipments in the Southeast Asia mobile phone market fell by 13% year on year in the third quarter, but Apple's shipments in major countries increased by 63% year on year, with the growth rate in Vietnam market higher than that in neighboring countries.
In addition, 5G smart phones account for 32% of the total shipments in major countries, and will grow by 56% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2022. The 5G smart phone of $200-400 grew by 73% year on year, indicating that most OEMs are using 5G as a main selling point. Huacheng's import and export data observation report.
