China-EU trade and mutually beneficial cooperation will rapidly warm up

2023-03-03

The mutually beneficial trade and cooperation between China and the EU will rapidly warm up! Mao Ning, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on the 2nd that as China successfully emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic, China EU trade will comprehensively activate dialogue and cooperation in all fields, and China EU trade comprehensive strategic partnership and mutually beneficial economic and trade cooperation will rapidly warm up, bringing more confidence and hope to global prosperity and stability.

Recently, the latest research report released by the Kiel Institute of World Economics in Germany shows that once the EU chooses to "decouple" from China, even if the EU establishes a new supply system, in the long run, the economic output of Germany will also decrease by 1%, with an annual loss of 36 billion euros.

In response to relevant questions at the regular press conference on the same day, Maoning said that Germany is China's largest economic and trade partner in the EU. According to German statistics, the bilateral trade volume between China and Germany will reach 297.9 billion euros in 2022, an increase of about 21% over 2021. China has become Germany's most important trading partner for the seventh consecutive year. German leaders have repeatedly expressed their opposition to any form of "decoupling".

Mao Ning said that the close Sino-German economic and trade ties are also the epitome of China-EU trade relations. In 2022, China-EU trade rose by 5.6% against the trend, while EU investment in China increased by more than 90% year on year, and the number of China-EU trains reached a new high.

"As China successfully emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic, China and the EU will comprehensively restart face-to-face exchanges at all levels, fully activate dialogue and cooperation in all fields, and China EU comprehensive strategic partnership and mutually beneficial economic and trade cooperation will rapidly warm up, bringing more confidence and hope to global prosperity and stability," she said.
