General Administration of Customs: This year, we will focus on building a smart customs to promote modern customs reform. Guarding the national gate is the basic responsibility of the customs. As China opens the door to the outside world, the responsibility of the customs to guard the national gate becomes greater and greater. Strict inspection and quarantine controls were implemented, and a total of 580000 species of harmful organisms were detected. General Administration of Customs: This year, we will focus on building a smart customs to promote modern customs reform. In 2022, China's total foreign trade value exceeded 42 trillion yuan. Yu Jianhua said that this scale is unprecedented in the history of human trade, and the pressure on a country's customs supervision is also unprecedented.

"Last year, the national customs supervised the import and export cargo volume of 4.8 billion tons, 13 million freighters, planes, trains and other means of transport (planes, ships), and 320 million cross-border express mail. If our import and export goods were loaded onto trains last year, they could circle the earth's equator 30 times head to tail. If the containers we supervised last year were connected together, they could form two rows between the earth and the moon," Yu Jianhua said.

The scale of trade is only one aspect. China has many forms of trade, high regulatory requirements, and high security pressure. How can customs supervision achieve "manageable, open, and fast access"? Yu Jianhua said that this year, we will vigorously promote the construction of smart customs, take smart customs as a starting point to promote modern customs reform, and build a world-class customs that leads the trend of international customs supervision and serves China's high-quality development.

"Realize the digitization, automation, and intelligence of customs clearance and management, continuously improve regulatory efficiency; strengthen the three defense lines of 'overseas, port, and domestic', build a customs operation mechanism of 'response, echo, and response', and create a comprehensive, full-chain regulatory system." Yu Jianhua said.
