Costa Rica customs data

2023-03-31

Costa Rica is a country with a mild climate and many volcanoes. The unique geological and climatic conditions make the country the most important producer of pineapple, bananas, and coffee in the world. Costa Rica is the world's second largest exporter of pineapples and bananas, and it is also the largest raw material supplier for American coffee giant Starbucks. Starbucks' largest coffee producer is in Costa Rica. Costa Rica, located in Central America, is China's first diplomatic country in this position. There are many legends, and I would like to have a chance to visit. In November 2019, the opportunity came. With the approval of relevant parties, the delegation of the Chinese People's Association for Peace and Disarmament came to this remote and beautiful country at the invitation of the Peace Foundation established by former President Arias. Although this visit was very brief, with a glimmer of light and a quick look at the flowers, it also filled my knowledge gap. In particular, Costa Rica's multiple "firsts" have left a deep impression on us!

1、 Costa Rica Customs

Costa Rica customs is one of the busiest ports in the world. Every year, about 15 million boxes of goods are imported and exported here, with container ships exceeding 120000 tons and passenger trains exceeding 20000. In 2018, the tax revenue from the customs reached $10 billion. According to customs data, in 2017, the trade volume between Costa Rica and China reached 1.986 billion euros, an increase of 24.3% year-on-year; Among them, exports to China totaled 638 million US dollars and imports totaled 1.173 billion US dollars. According to customs data, in terms of trade, China's imports mainly come from South American countries such as Chile, Peru, and Argentina. Among them, Chile accounts for the highest proportion of exports to China, followed by Peru and Argentina.

2、 Costa Rica customs data

According to customs data, the total value of Chinese exports to Costa Rica from January to November 2022 was 2192693700 US dollars, an increase of 158927200 US dollars compared to the same period in 2021, an increase of 8% year-on-year; The total value of Chinese imports from Costa Rica was $1842.8342 million, an increase of $1763.7258 million compared to the same period in 2021, with a year-on-year increase of 153.4%.

3、 Costa Rica's economic development

Costa Rica is an economically developed country with the third largest GDP in the world. Costa Rica is also one of the largest economies in the Americas. According to customs data, by the end of 2019, Costa Rica's total trade volume had reached 3.4 trillion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 4.4%; The total export volume is 1.8 trillion pesos, the total import volume is 22.6 million pesos, the net export amount is 68 million US dollars, and the net export volume is 1.73 million tons. In addition, Costa Rica also has world-class financial centers and shopping centers where large enterprises gather.

This is a disappointing thing, but it will not affect our interest and enthusiasm in traveling on the island. Although the current situation seems very bad, through government support and effective management, they can overcome difficulties and bring more convenience to tourists.
