On April 18th, Xiamen Customs released the import and export data of Xiamen's foreign trade for the first quarter of this year. According to customs data, from January to March, Xiamen's foreign trade import and export reached 233.41 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.1%; Among them, imports amounted to 125.46 billion yuan, an increase of 23.8%, and exports amounted to 107.95 billion yuan, an increase of 2.7%.

Private enterprises are the largest foreign trade entities. According to customs data, from January to March, the import and export of private enterprises in Xiamen amounted to 103.2 billion yuan, an increase of 31.4%, accounting for 44.2% of the total import and export value of Xiamen's foreign trade during the same period. During the same period, state-owned enterprises accounted for 35.7% of imports and exports; Foreign invested enterprises account for 20.1% of imports and exports.

Exports are mainly focused on electromechanical products and labor-intensive products. According to customs data, from January to March, Xiamen exported 56.69 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, accounting for 52.5% of the total export value; Export labor-intensive products amounted to 26.5 billion yuan, accounting for 24.5%.

Imports mainly focus on metal ore, mechanical and electrical products, and agricultural products. According to customs data, from January to March, Xiamen imported 27.63 billion yuan of metal ore, accounting for 22% of the total import value; Imported agricultural products amounted to 21.35 billion yuan, accounting for 17%; Imported mechanical and electrical products amounted to 18.68 billion yuan, accounting for 14.9%.

ASEAN, the European Union, and the United States are the top three trading partners. According to customs data, from January to March, Xiamen's imports and exports to ASEAN amounted to 43.42 billion yuan, accounting for 18.6% of the total import and export value; Import and export to the EU amounted to 33.71 billion yuan, accounting for 14.4%; Import and export to the United States amounted to 26.58 billion yuan, accounting for 11.4%. In addition, import and export to countries along the "the Belt and Road" reached 92.91 billion yuan, up 35%.
