The reporter learned from the April 26th routine press conference of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade that overseas exhibitions are an important path to help enterprises stabilize orders and expand the market. In the first quarter of this year, China Exhibition Group, a subsidiary of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, has organized and served 285 enterprises, attending 21 overseas exhibitions in 7 countries including Germany, Italy, France, Russia, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and South Korea.
In the first quarter, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade conducted a sampling survey of 10028 Chinese companies from 44 major industries and 646 small industries participating in overseas exhibitions, indicating that companies generally reported significant gains from overseas exhibitions. Countries along the "the Belt and Road" have become popular, with 27.56% of exhibitors going to the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Malaysia, Russia, Thailand and other five countries. The industries of building materials, hardware, machinery, electronics, engineering machinery, and accessories have performed outstandingly, with 40.02% of exhibitors in these five industries.
On April 25th, the General Office of the State Council issued the "Opinions on Promoting Stable Scale and Optimal Structure of Foreign Trade", which proposed optimizing the supply and procurement coordination of key exhibitions. Local governments, trade promotion agencies, and business associations will further increase their support for foreign trade enterprises to participate in various overseas exhibitions, strengthen organizational coordination and service guarantee, and continue to cultivate self organized overseas exhibitions and expand the scale of exhibitions.
To this end, Wang Linjie, a spokesperson for the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, stated that the Council will do a good job in the following aspects to help enterprises stabilize orders and expand into the international trade market:
In terms of exhibition approval management. On the basis of completing 519 application approvals for the first batch of economic and trade exhibitions to be held abroad in 2023, the second batch of over 400 projects is being reviewed in conjunction with the Ministry of Commerce.
In terms of overseas exhibitions. This year, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the China International Chamber of Commerce will hold 28 overseas exhibition projects, targeting mature markets such as the United States and the European Union, as well as emerging markets such as ASEAN, Latin America, and West Africa; Both online and offline exhibitions; It not only involves traditional industries such as agricultural technology, but also expands emerging industries such as new energy and smart transportation.
In terms of building independent brand exhibitions. We are fully preparing to host the China International Supply Chain Promotion Expo with the theme of "Linking the World, Creating a Future Together", focusing on creating a high-end platform for upstream, midstream, and downstream integration, linking large and small enterprises, and collaborating with industry, academia, research, and application. At the same time, we will also collaborate with various regions to utilize their own advantages and characteristics to organize the "One Province, One Product" brand economic and trade activities, such as jointly organizing the 20th China ASEAN Business and Investment Summit with the Ministry of Commerce and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; Jointly organizing the first China International Aviation and Aerospace Industry Expo (referred to as the China Aviation Expo) with the Beijing Municipal People's Government, we aim to create a display and trade platform focused on civil aviation and aerospace at Beijing Daxing International Trade Airport.
In addition, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade has organized practical intellectual property training for enterprises going abroad for economic and trade exhibitions, to improve the level of exhibition display and awareness and ability of intellectual property protection for Chinese enterprises.
The reporter also learned that in order to help enterprises effectively enjoy the dividends of the RCEP agreement, from January 2022 to March 2023, the national trade promotion system issued 201700 certificate of origin under the RCEP, involving an export amount of US $8.41 billion, which is expected to reduce tariffs of Chinese products in the RCEP importing member countries by about US $126 million.
Since the implementation of RCEP came into effect, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) has gathered the strength of the national trade promotion system, developed a combination of measures to promote high-quality implementation of RCEP, guided and supported various regions, industries, and enterprises to seize opportunities, expanded international trade and investment cooperation with RCEP members, and promoted the continuous release of agreement dividends.
Assist various regions in policy coordination. At present, the national trade promotion system has held over 200 RCEP forums and training sessions, benefiting hundreds of thousands of enterprises. Recently, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade held a forum on promoting high-quality trade and promoting free trade agreements such as RCEP at the Consumer Expo. In mid June, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the People's Government of Shandong Province will jointly host the 2023 RCEP Economic and Trade Cooperation High Level Forum in Qingdao, with the theme of "Jointly Moving Forward and Promoting Prosperity", to exchange and discuss topics such as RCEP and the development of economic integration in the Asia Pacific region, RCEP agreements and international shipping trade facilitation, and the improvement of international trade dispute resolution mechanisms under the background of RCEP.
In addition, provide more targeted public service products. The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) conducted in-depth research on the pain points and difficulties of foreign trade enterprises using free trade agreements to explore the international trade market, as well as the impact of the implementation of RCEP on characteristic industries in various regions. The "Research Report on Policy Integration between RCEP and Hainan Free Trade Port" and 16 "Business Application Guidelines for Free Trade Agreements", including RCEP, were released to extract and share the benefits strategies and cases of enterprises applying RCEP related policies.
Wang Linjie stated that in the next step, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade will continue to carry out high-quality RCEP work such as commercial certification, promotion, and training guidance, fully leveraging the positive role of RCEP in stabilizing foreign trade and foreign investment, promoting industrial chain supply chain cooperation, and promoting high-quality development.
