China US trade is accelerating downward, and US joint ventures are "at a loss". How should

2023-05-05

With the vigorous development of Sino US trade relations, it is inevitable that a series of economic and trade conflicts have been triggered, which have become important factors restricting the development of Sino US trade. Especially after the Spring Festival, the orders from the United States in China have significantly decreased, indicating that Sino US trade is declining at an alarming rate.

In the development of China's economy, foreign trade plays a huge driving role, especially in the early stages of opening up to the outside world. A large amount of foreign investment poured into China to invest and build factories, effectively solving the employment problem of some labor. However, with the sharp decrease in orders in the United States, the companies we collaborate with have fallen into a state of confusion. How should we respond to this situation?

The trade relationship between China and the United States is inseparable, which can not only promote the development of both countries, but also effectively promote their economic growth, thus achieving a mutually beneficial situation. As is well known, the goods we export to the United States are mainly concentrated in the indispensable fields of shoes, clothing, toys, etc. in daily life. However, with the continuous progress of technology in our country, more and more diverse products have emerged, and the products we export to the United States have become increasingly diverse to meet the needs of different groups of people.

At present, China's foreign trade situation still faces severe challenges, which are caused by the evolution of Sino US trade relations and trade disputes. In this situation, China's foreign trade has been affected to some extent, especially in some labor-intensive industries where exports have decreased and imports have increased. The United States has implemented trade protectionism policies while actively guiding local enterprises to return, which further exacerbates the challenges faced by China's foreign trade development. In recent years, China's port cargo throughput has been showing a downward trend, and there is also a continuous upward trend. From several major ports in China, it can be observed that former ports were bustling places, but now they are occupied by idle containers, workers are idle, and even truck drivers have decreased significantly. The number of people in ports is decreasing, and many people are choosing to work because they feel that they lack the skills and experience to serve others. Near the port, people are facing the dilemma of not being able to find jobs, so they have to find other feasible solutions.

In fact, the United States began planning to break away from its dependence on China a long time ago, but due to the existence of the epidemic, we were not aware of this reality. In the past period, the United States has experienced a serious epidemic, causing domestic production to stagnate, and the basic needs of local residents have also become a thorny issue. In order to alleviate domestic economic pressure and ensure the quality of life of the people, the United States has to continuously expand the scale of goods imported from China. This has led to the illusion that the United States cannot escape the influence of products made in China.

However, the actual situation is not like this. With the easing of the US epidemic to a certain extent, they are actively promoting the process of "de localization" and reducing orders in China on a large scale. China has shown astonishing speed in its development over the years, which has also made other countries, especially the United States, feel threatened from outside. For a long time, the United States has firmly held the throne of global hegemony, and its position is unshakable, making it difficult for other countries to surpass. The development momentum of our country has shown a trend of catching up with and surpassing the United States, which requires us to be vigilant and adopt various means to suppress our country's development.

China formed a strong competitive relationship with the United States in the Sino US trade war, and as a result, the United States took measures to increase tariffs, leading to a continuous increase in the prices of goods exported from China to the United States. The reason why our products are popular in the US market is due to their low prices, which is our advantage in competition. However, with the increase in tax rates, this price advantage has clearly been lost, and therefore our competitiveness in the market has also disappeared.

Currently, the "blatant disengagement" of the US market is not accidental, and an important reason behind it is its observation of the rise of Southeast Asian countries. This is also one of the main problems we are currently facing. Compared to China, Southeast Asia has a more significant competitive advantage in attracting foreign investment. Because we have cheap labor resources and abundant natural resources. These countries have more cost-effective labor and land rental costs, effectively reducing production costs.

In Southeast Asia, the rise of the region has been limited due to the lack of a complete industrial chain and the fact that the technical level of workers has not yet reached the level of China. However, these products belong to the mid to low end market and lack technological content, completely relying on consumer experience accumulation. If Chinese enterprises want to enter the international market with their products, they must have advanced technology and management capabilities. As Southeast Asia attracts more and more foreign investment in factory construction, the production chain will be rapidly improved, greatly improving the work efficiency of workers. For the development of our country, foreign enterprises will also consider withdrawing from Southeast Asia, which has brought great adverse effects on our country's economic development.

What measures should Chinese enterprises take in the face of this situation? I think we should actively develop our advantageous industries in the context of the "the Belt and Road" strategy, and at the same time integrate with the international market, so as to achieve leapfrog growth. For China's foreign trade enterprises, the reduction of Sino US trade cooperation is not only a challenge but also a rare opportunity. We know that in the past few years, China's manufacturing industry has developed rapidly, but now some problems have begun to emerge. Although it may have an impact on the normal operation of enterprises in the short term, it also motivates these enterprises to seize the time, accelerate the upgrading of industrial structure, and turn Chinese manufacturing into Chinese intelligent manufacturing.

Further expanding domestic demand and raising the salary level of low-income groups to promote consumption by high-income groups in China, thereby stimulating people's consumption enthusiasm and promoting sustainable economic development.

Final statement

In 2023, the country increased its efforts in infrastructure construction, which solved the employment problem of many people and ensured their income stability. Through all-round struggle, China's development challenges will be easily solved, and the economy will also thrive.
