Customs data shows that Norwegian mackerel exports to Japan showed an increasing trend in the first

On April 27th, customs data showed that Norway exported 71400 tons of mackerel in the first quarter of this year, with an export value of 1.4 billion Norwegian kroner, an increase of 16% and 21% year-on-year, respectively.

According to customs data, South Korea is the largest export region, followed closely by Japan, with an export volume of 11861 tons and an export value of 239.9 million Norwegian kroner, with year-on-year growth of 79% and 82%, respectively.

Customs data shows that Norwegian mackerel exports through China are decreasing, while direct exports to Japan have increased, comparable to the levels in 2005.

According to customs data, the export price of frozen Norwegian mackerel in March was 19.64 Norwegian kroner per kilogram, a year-on-year increase of 3.6%. Christian Cramer, CEO of the Norwegian Marine Products Agency, who visited Japan in mid April, called for the lifting of import tariffs on mackerel.

According to customs data, the number of mackerel imported by Japan in February decreased by 2% to 3427 tons, and the import volume increased by 19% to 1104 million yen, with an average import price of 322 yen per kilogram, up 21%. Norwegian mackerel accounted for 78% of the Japanese seafood market.
