In 2021, two countries in Central Africa - the Central African Republic and  Sao Tome and Principe - have signed a memorandum of understanding with China to jointly build the "the Belt and Road". The joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" for international trade has promoted more exchanges of goods, technology, capital and personnel, promoted the common development of economy, society, environment and culture in Central Africa, and ushered in more cooperation opportunities in infrastructure construction, economy, trade, culture, training and other fields. Ten years after the "the Belt and Road" initiative was put forward, Africa is becoming one of the most important directions to participate in the "the Belt and Road" cooperation.

Help Shengpu achieve better development

Under the principle of "the Belt and Road" for joint consultation, joint construction and sharing, China and Sao Tome and Principe have made joint efforts to usher in more cooperation opportunities in international trade fields such as infrastructure construction, economy and trade, culture, training, which has injected more new impetus into the economic and social development of Sao Tome and Principe.

In terms of cultural training, education is an important area of cooperation between China, Saint Germain, and Prussia, further deepening the friendly cooperative relationship between the two sides. On March 21 of this year, the unveiling ceremony was held for the classroom of St. Putonna Maria Rezus Elementary School, which was built with Chinese assistance. It is understood that China, Saint Germain and Pueblo actively carry out educational cooperation, with China helping Saint Germain and Pueblo to repair and build new school buildings, and providing students with learning supplies and holiday gifts; At the same time, we carry out annual enrollment work for the "Chinese Government Scholarship", encourage young people to have conversations with Chinese astronauts, and hold painting competitions.

In terms of medical and health care, China has dispatched 18 batches of medical teams to Sao Paulo, making stable contributions to deepening bilateral medical cooperation. At present, the 18th batch of medical teams in Sao Pu not only follow the traditional projects such as fluoride application and free clinics from the previous team, but also timely carry out new technologies and promote new projects, and strengthen the training of local general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, oral and other professional doctors, adding new achievements to the medical cause of Sao Pu and benefiting more Sao Pu people.

In the field of infrastructure construction, the "the Belt and Road" transportation connectivity strongly promotes the industrialization and economic growth of Sao Tome and Principe. In 2021, a Chinese enterprise successfully won the bid to assist in the renovation and expansion project of Shengpu Capital International Airport, responsible for the design and project management of the project. The project is the first project of China's assistance to  Sao Tome and Principe. When completed, the project can improve the transportation infrastructure of  Sao Tome and Principe and promote the national living standard and economic and social development of the country. The reconstruction and expansion of the existing international airport will effectively improve the civil aviation security capability of  Sao Tome and Principe, drive the rapid development of the country's tourism industry, and will also enhance the country's national image and help it better integrate into the international trade development environment.

In terms of economic and trade cooperation, the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" has strongly driven underdeveloped countries to catch up in economic development. Since the resumption of diplomatic relations in December 2016, China's bilateral economic and trade relations with Sao Paulo have steadily developed. From a total trade volume of 7.299 million US dollars in 2018 to 15.43 million US dollars in 2022. In 2021, Chinese companies had no direct investment in S&P, and in March of this year, according to S&P National Television, Huawei stated that it would increase cooperation with S&P in the communication field.

Assist Zhongfei in enhancing "hematopoiesis" function

On November 19, 2021, at the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding on international trade "the Belt and Road" cooperation and the awarding ceremony of the "Chinese Ambassador Medal of China Africa Community of Shared Future" held at the Presidential Palace of the Central African Republic, teachers and students from the Confucius Institute of Bangui University, which has not been established for a long time, presented a carefully prepared program, singing together the traditional Chinese song "Jasmine", which fully demonstrated the beautiful picture of cultural integration and lasting friendship between the two countries. The cooperation project between China and the Central African Republic under the "the Belt and Road" initiative of international trade creates development opportunities for the local area.

Along the "the Belt and Road" blueprint, Chinese energy enterprises have accelerated their cooperation with the Central African Republic. In June 2022, the first photovoltaic power plant in the Central African Republic, the Sakai photovoltaic power plant, was connected to the grid for power generation. The project is under the general contracting of China Energy Construction Group Tianjin Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd. After completion, it greatly alleviated the electricity shortage in the capital city of the Central African Republic, Bangui, and promoted local economic and social development.

Agriculture is a pillar industry in the Central African Republic, but due to the long-term lack of corresponding agricultural planting and management technologies, agricultural production is difficult to achieve scale and automation. Fungus grass technology, invented by Chinese scientist Lin Zhanzhi, refers to the cultivation of edible and medicinal fungi, the production of fungal feed, and ecological management using fungus grass to replace wood. It has developed into an important industry for poverty alleviation and prosperity in China. In 2017, this "China Plan" was included in the key promotion project of the China United Nations Peace and Development Fund and gradually took root in over 100 countries and regions. In May 2021, under the guidance of the expert group of the China Africa Mycobacterium Technology Project, the Central African Republic established a production line for edible fungi, a breeding base for Mycobacterium seedlings, carried out technical promotion, personnel training, and demonstration and promotion work.

It is understood that in order to better promote the mushroom technology, the project team has also built production workshops, including mushroom production, inoculation, mycelium cultivation, and mushroom demonstration. This aid project not only enriches the dining table of the Central African people, but also spreads agricultural technology, promotes local employment, and reduces poverty. The "the Belt and Road" cooperation project not only helps Africa enhance its "hematopoietic" function, but also lays a solid foundation for the industrial upgrading and development of relevant countries while meeting Africa's own development needs and plans.

Roads, railways, bridges, commodities, technologies, projects... a series of achievements epitomize the solid development of the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road". More and more African people also have a future full of opportunities due to the "the Belt and Road" cooperation.
