According to Urumqi Customs statistics, from January to April this year, the total import and export value of Xinjiang's foreign trade was 94.95 billion yuan, an increase of 82.7% compared to the same period in 2022. Firstly, exports to the five Central Asian countries have achieved three consecutive months of positive month on month growth. Import and export data shows that exports from Xinjiang ports to the five Central Asian countries increased by 4.9%, 11.4%, and 14.4% month on month in February, March, and April, respectively. In April, exports reached 31.48 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 107.3%.
Secondly, from January to April, Xinjiang's single trading partner countries and regions expanded from 160 in the same period last year to 165. Practical cooperation in the economic and trade fields with the Central Asian region is constantly deepening. Import and export data shows that from January to April, Xinjiang's imports and exports to the five Central Asian countries reached 75.11 billion yuan, an increase of 92.2%, accounting for 43.4% of the total import and export value of the country to the five Central Asian countries, an increase of 12.4 percentage points compared to the same period last year. Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan remain the three major trading partners of Xinjiang.
Thirdly, the proportion of mechanical and electrical products and clothing exports is nearly 70%, and the "new three samples" exports maintain a high prosperity. According to import and export data, from January to April, the export of mechanical and electrical products, clothing, and clothing accessories from Xinjiang ports to the five Central Asian countries increased by 76.5% and 66.7%, respectively, accounting for 64.3% of the total export value. During the same period, the export of "new three samples" from Xinjiang ports to the five Central Asian countries increased by 495.7%, among which the export growth rates of electric passenger vehicles, solar cells, and lithium batteries were 645.9%, 217.4%, and 66%, respectively.
The fourth is the rapid growth of highway transportation. According to import and export data, from January to April, exports from Xinjiang ports to the five Central Asian countries increased by 139.6%, accounting for 70.7%.
