Since doing foreign trade, I have gone through a period of several months without issuing orders and a period of high performance of several hundred thousand yuan per month. Anyway, I have also accumulated some industry experience. Summarized some industry skills.
I would like to share some of the customs data development overseas clients that have greatly benefited me recently. Many people have heard of it, but in fact, customs data has many functions to explore.
What is the customs data for 01
The bill of lading or customs declaration data from overseas countries can accurately display the export records of peers and the procurement records of target customers.
What is the purpose of 02 customs data
1) Analyze target market
Can intuitively understand the procurement quantity, transaction frequency, and import and export quantity of each country
2) Insight into industry changes
Monitoring changes in suppliers in the target country or region, when new suppliers continue to join the industry and market, indicates that the profit and demand of the industry and market may be high, but at the same time, concentration is also intense.
3) Lock in competitors
By searching for relevant products, you can see which competitors are in the industry, analyze their enterprise types, business conditions, and production scale, and achieve a better understanding of their own position and advantages in the industry, so that enterprises can formulate targeted market strategies.
4) Monitoring peer customers
Continuously track and analyze the transaction records of competitors, and grasp the procurement patterns and volumes of peers' buyers.
5) Positioning Blue Ocean Customers
Your colleague Ken will also be waiting here to find your customers by any means possible. Foreign trade professionals can actually change their mindset and find customers from their peers, but they can always find customers from their peers, right? For example, if your peers' customers are wholesalers who distribute some to other retailers, can these retailers also develop into your customers?
6) Consolidate existing customers
Your customers will also have other suppliers besides cooperating with you. By using customs data, it is possible to see how many orders customers have placed with other suppliers and the frequency of orders placed, in order to promptly follow up with old customers and win back the share of orders placed.
7) Revitalize old customers who do not place orders
If your customer hasn't placed an order for a long time, they may have been poached by their peers. By checking customs data, you can know when and how many orders the customer has been poached. Further analyze the reasons for customer transfer, identify problems in the pricing, communication, delivery time, and other aspects of one's own products, and make targeted improvements and challenges to reactivate existing customers.
Of course, the usefulness of customs data still needs to be explored. I use customs data the most to develop customers. This is also a headache for foreign trade professionals. The customs data mentioned earlier will provide the purchasers and suppliers of import and export goods, but will not provide the contact information of customers. Collecting their contact information through the internet is cumbersome and not accurate enough. So how do I use customs data to develop customers?
Firstly, there must be a copy of customs data, which can be obtained from relevant customs data websites.
Secondly, by copying or automatically mining the purchaser information from customs data, decision-maker information can be automatically retrieved, such as the email addresses of CEOs, procurement managers, etc., LinkedIn accounts, etc. Although there is no phone number, for foreign customers, I still rely mainly on email addresses and W or LinkedIn, which is more efficient.
Finally, after obtaining this information, we can add a LinkedIn account or directly send a development letter. Although not every company can mine it, the volume of customs data is still large. I basically spend some time every day mining five precise email addresses to send, and I can reach around 150 people in a month. With luck, I can develop four or five new customers in a month using customs data. Of course, developing customers should not be rushed, and it depends on luck.
