Chinese Premier Li Qiang will pay an official visit to Germany and hold the seventh round of Sino German government consultations starting from June 18th. The first stop of Premier Li Qiang's first visit after taking office was in Germany, which fully reflects the great importance China attaches to China–Germany relations. In an interview with reporters from China News Agency, people from all walks of life in Germany expressed their hope that this visit can further deepen mutual understanding, enhance mutually beneficial cooperation in international trade, and inject more stable forces into the world.

Looking forward to deepening mutual understanding

According to the China News Service, Michael Schumann, president of the German Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade (BWA), after experiencing challenges such as the COVID-19, it is crucial for Germany and China to have face-to-face talks again. I hope both sides can take this opportunity to enhance mutual understanding and engage in constructive exchanges.

"Trust is based on mutual understanding and frequent exchanges." Friedrich Rheinheimer, chief operating officer of Mecotec Co., Ltd. in Germany, said that he expected the two sides to exchange views widely based on common understanding during this visit.

Duan Wei, Director General of the German Chinese Chamber of Commerce, looks forward to deepening exchanges and understanding between the two governments through this visit, injecting new vitality and momentum into the development of international trade and economic relations between the two countries.

Li Li, president of the Chinese school in Nuremberg, Germany, expressed the hope that the visit would further smooth exchanges between Germany and China and lay a good foundation for enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation in international trade between the two countries.

Positive evaluation of cooperation between Germany and China

Dr. Michael Borchmann, former director of the European and International Affairs Department in Hesse, Germany, pointed out that the recent frequent high-level interaction between Germany and China is an effort made by both sides based on the fruitful development of their relationship in the past. Germany and China are comprehensive strategic partners, and for many years, China has been Germany's most important foreign trade partner. Further enhancing bilateral relations and expanding cooperation are in the interests of both sides.

Schumann stated that there is a long-term, successful, and solid economic and technological cooperation relationship between Germany and China. Last year marked the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Germany and China, and this year marks the 45th anniversary of technological innovation cooperation between Germany and China. China remains Germany's most important trading partner, and German companies not only view China as an important market and production base, but also as an investment destination that helps maintain innovation capabilities.

Schumann pointed out that the so-called "decoupling theory" is not in Germany's interest. There are different views within the federal government on the relationship between Germany and China, and many misunderstandings are due to limited knowledge of China, which makes communication even more important.

The two countries have a good history of mutually beneficial cooperation in the economy, and the international trade and economic relations between Germany and China are a mutually integrated cooperative relationship. In Duan Wei's view, despite facing some factors of interference, the willingness of cooperation between the two countries' enterprises is still strong, and the depth and breadth of cooperation are highly anticipated.

He introduced that since the beginning of this year, more and more Chinese delegations have come to Germany and Europe to seek business opportunities, and at the same time, more and more German delegations have started exchanges and cooperation with China. The exchanges between high-level leaders of the two countries will further promote the development of international trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Happy to see both countries contribute to the world

Germany is the largest economy in Europe, and Schumann stated that the EU is also closely monitoring Germany and the development of relations between Germany and China. The combination of Germany's innovation power and China's innovation power can jointly bring innovation to third-party markets.

From a historical perspective, the quality of relations between major powers has often become a barometer of world stability. Li Li pointed out that the stable and healthy relationship between Germany and China is not only related to the interests of both sides, but also bears responsibility to the world.

Duan Wei stated that in the current unstable world political and economic situation, Germany and China should work together, adhere to multilateralism, trade liberalization and investment facilitation, play a good exemplary role, and inject more stable forces into the world.
