On July 13, the State Information Office held a press conference on the import and export situation in the first half of the year. At the meeting, Li Kuiwen, spokesperson of the General Administration of Customs and Director of the Statistics and Analysis Department, introduced that according to customs statistics, in the first half of this year, my country’s imports and exports to countries along the “Belt and Road” reached 5.35 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 27.5%, compared with my country’s foreign trade in the same period. The overall growth rate was 0.4% higher, accounting for 29.6% of my country's total foreign trade import and export value. Among them, exports were 3.03 trillion yuan, an increase of 29.1%; imports were 2.32 trillion yuan, an increase of 25.6%.

Li Kuiwen introduced that my country's trade with countries along the "Belt and Road" has several bright spots. First, trade exchanges continue to be active, and imports and exports with ASEAN, India, UAE and other countries along the route have achieved rapid growth. In the first half of the year, my country’s imports and exports to ASEAN along the “Belt and Road” were 2.66 trillion yuan, an increase of 27.8%, of which Vietnam and Malaysia increased by 30.7% and 33.1%; India and the UAE increased by 50.5% and 32.8% respectively. In addition, imports and exports to Poland and Turkey increased by 40.6% and 39.4% respectively.
Second, exports of "home economy" products, steel products, automobiles, etc. have performed well, becoming an important force driving the growth of my country's exports to countries along the route. In the first half of the year, my country’s exports of computers, household appliances, furniture and other “home economy” products to countries along the “Belt and Road” totaled 187.3 billion yuan, an increase of 35.1%; exports of steel products amounted to 127.87 billion yuan, an increase of 47.8%; exports of automobiles and parts were 105.02 billion yuan Yuan, an increase of 54.6%; the export of medical materials and drugs was 42.56 billion yuan, an increase of 95%.
Third, cooperation in the fields of energy, agriculture, and minerals has deepened, and imports of crude oil, agricultural products, and metal ore have increased steadily. In the first half of the year, my country imported 511.46 billion yuan of crude oil from countries along the “Belt and Road”, an increase of 15%; imported agricultural products were 162.57 billion yuan, an increase of 30.9%; and imports of metal ore were 109.16 billion yuan, an increase of 56.1%. In addition, imported coal was 58.58 billion yuan, an increase of 38.5%; imported copper was 52.05 billion yuan, an increase of 40.6%.
Fourth, the advantages of China-Europe Express Express have been highlighted, and they have played an important role in ensuring the stability of trade with countries along the route. With the unique advantages of security and stability, the China-Europe Express Express has played an important role in ensuring the smooth flow of goods between my country and the countries along the “Belt and Road” during the epidemic. According to data from China National Railway Group, in the first half of this year, China-Europe freight trains have operated 7,377 and sent 707,000 TEUs, an increase of 43% and 52% year-on-year respectively, and the comprehensive heavy-duty rate reached 98%. According to customs statistics, in the first half of the year, my country used railway transportation to import and export 209.78 billion yuan to countries along the “Belt and Road”, an increase of 43.1%. The growth rate was 15.3, 13 and 21.3 faster than water, road, and air import and export respectively. percentage point.
Fifth, the central and western regions have accelerated their integration into the “Belt and Road” construction, and their trade with countries along the route has grown rapidly. In the first half of the year, the import and export of the central and western regions to countries along the "Belt and Road" was 1.02 trillion yuan, an increase of 30.3%, accounting for 19% of my country and the countries along the "Belt and Road" in the same period, an increase of 0.4% over the same period last year. Among them, the import and export growth rate of Guangxi, Chongqing, Yunnan, Anhui, Hubei and other central and western provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) and countries along the route exceeded 30%.
Li Kuiwen said that since the beginning of this year, the General Administration of Customs has made every effort to promote the "Three Wisdom" pilot projects of "Smart Customs, Smart Border, and Wisdom Sharing", and signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Belgian Customs to create the first European version of the "Three Wisdom" concept. Demonstration projects; vigorously support the development of China-Europe railway trains. At the end of June, China and Belarus signed the "Guantietong" project protocol to further promote the "Guantietong" cooperation project.
