On October 6, Chinese Ambassador to Solomon Islands Li Ming and Solomon Islands Prime Minister and Acting Minister of Finance Sogavare jointly signed an economic and technological cooperation agreement between the two governments at the Prime Minister's Office.
Li Ming said in his speech that the People's Republic of China celebrated its 72nd birthday a few days ago, and the two countries also just celebrated the second anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. In the past two years, China-Society relations have developed rapidly, and pragmatic cooperation in various fields has achieved fruitful results. On September 24, President Xi Jinping had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Sogavare. The leaders of the two countries reached important consensus on promoting bilateral exchanges and cooperation in a wide range of areas, which pointed out the direction for China-Sinoban relations in the new era. The signing of the Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement between the two parties this time is an important measure to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and support the economic and social development of the institute. The Chinese side is willing to work closely with the Solomon Islands, guided by the consensus of the leaders, deepen anti-epidemic cooperation, strengthen the alignment of the "Belt and Road" initiative with the Sovereign Development Strategy, and jointly implement the stadiums and other infrastructure cooperation projects, and share poverty reduction and development. Experience helps the development of rural areas and the improvement of people’s lives.
Sogavare said that in the past two years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Solomon Islands, China has provided valuable support in the fight against the epidemic and infrastructure. It is believed that the signing of the agreement aimed at promoting economic and technological cooperation between the two countries will further consolidate and expand the common interests of the two countries and promote the in-depth development of bilateral relations.
