China wins WTO ruling in China v. US countervailing measures case

2022-01-28

On January 26, the WTO arbitral tribunal issued a ruling on the WTO dispute case between China and the United States on countervailing measures, finding that because the United States failed to comply with the WTO ruling, China could impose trade retaliation against the United States of US$645 million per year in the field of trade in goods.

It is reported that the successful outcome of this case is of great significance for correcting the violation of US countervailing practices, safeguarding the legitimate trade interests of Chinese enterprises, and defending the multilateral trading system.

According to sources, this case is the second time China has received trade retaliation against the US in the WTO. Previously, China won an annual trade retaliation amount of US$3.579 billion against the US in the WTO dispute case against the US anti-dumping measures.

According to sources, China urges the U.S. to stop looking for any excuses and take immediate action to correct its wrongdoing in the trade remedy investigation against China.
