The Sino Italian helicopter project with a total investment of 12.8 billion yuan was settled in Zhejiang, the modern automobile hydrogen fuel cell power system project base with a total investment of 5 billion yuan was settled in Guangdong, and the Apollo pure electric sports car industry project with a total investment of more than 2 billion yuan was settled in Shanghai... This is the latest investment project related to the China International Import Expo. The leading investors of these projects, who were once exhibitors in the Expo, have now become firm investors in China.
From November 5 to 10, the fifth China International Fair will be held in Shanghai. According to the data from the Ministry of Commerce, more than 270 billion US dollars were intended to be transacted in the past four sessions of the Expo. At the same time, China's absorption of foreign capital has continued to grow, and international trade has developed steadily. According to the data of the Ministry of Commerce, in 2019, 2020 and 2021, China's actual utilization of foreign capital was 941.5 billion yuan, 999.98 billion yuan and 1149.36 billion yuan respectively, up 5.8%, 6.2% and 14.9% on a year-on-year basis.
Shanghai has become the "first beneficiary" of the spillover effect of the Expo. According to the data released by the Shanghai Development and Reform Commission, from January to August this year, Shanghai actually used $16.3 billion of foreign capital, up 8.4% year on year. Over the same period, the actual use of foreign capital in Shanghai's manufacturing industry increased by 20.8%, with high-tech manufacturing accounting for 80%. In the first three quarters of this year, there were 46 newly identified regional headquarters of multinational companies and 17 foreign-funded R&D centers in Shanghai, totaling 877 and 523 respectively. The headquarters economy accelerated its concentration.
Japan's "glass king" firmly supports China's development
Ueda Minyu, the executive director of AGC Corporation of Japan and the general representative of AGC Group in China, is an old friend of the Expo. He can skillfully shuttle between various venues within the "four leaf clover" without getting lost, and quickly find his own company's booth.
Since 2018, AGC and Ueda Minyu will not be absent from each fair. This year, with the theme of "Carbon Neutralization" and "AGC Innovative Materials, Defending the Blue Planet", AGC has demonstrated nearly 40 world leading material products and innovative achievements. "We hope to use the power of materials to promote development in EV electric vehicles and the new infrastructure field advocated by China." Ueda Minyu said.
Since AGC entered China in the 1970s, it has been developing in China for more than 40 years, realizing the transformation from product manufacturing to "manufacturing and sales". At present, AGC has landed the world's first large and complex shape vehicle mounted display panel glass production line in Suzhou, and built the world's largest LCD glass substrate 11th generation factory in Shenzhen. The relevant projects brought 350 technicians from Japan, Italy, Belgium, Germany and other countries to China.
"We pay special attention to the Chinese economy and the Chinese market, and will have closer ties with China in the future. We hope that this Expo will release a strong signal of China's economic development to the outside world." Ueda Minyu said that the current global economy has reached a deadlock due to the COVID-19. International trade enterprises in China are very concerned about the next development trend of China's economy
He believes that in the short term, China's economy may be affected by the epidemic, but in the long term, the Chinese market is still very attractive.
It is the first time to gather 15 global pharmaceutical enterprises
One of the highlights of the Expo is that for the first time, the top 15 large pharmaceutical enterprises in the world have participated in the Expo.
Among the large multinational pharmaceutical enterprises, Roche Group, located in Pudong, Shanghai, took the lead in building a complete pharmaceutical value industry chain in China and continuously upgraded and improved it, including research, development, production, marketing and other links. The company also built a "Roche China Accelerator" in Pudong, specializing in innovative drugs.
Before the Expo, Roche announced an additional investment of nearly 250 million yuan in China. In the past three years, Roche Pharmaceuticals has invested more than 1.4 billion yuan in China. It is worth noting that Roche Shanghai Innovation Center (RICS) has also been officially upgraded to Roche China Innovation Center (CICoR), which has independent decision-making power for new drug research and early development, and can continuously develop innovative drugs for Chinese and global patients.
At this year's Expo, Roche will display nearly 30 full range heavy products on a 1000 square meter booth. Among them, in addition to several blockbuster products already listed in China, there will also be nearly 10 global innovative products to be listed in China, covering major disease fields such as blood tumors and breast cancer.
In terms of its strong blood products, Roche has brought a number of new products to be listed in China. Among them, the world's first ADC drug (antibody drug conjugate) Polivy targeting CD79b, with experimental data exceeding the gold standard for first-line treatment in the past 20 years, is expected to innovate the treatment pattern of diffuse large B lymphoma (DLBCL). Crovalimab, another innovative drug in the field of rare blood diseases, is expected to become the first innovative drug in the industry to be marketed earlier than that in Europe and the United States, to achieve the first launch in China and fill the treatment gap for Chinese patients with PNH.
Bian Xin, president of Roche Pharmaceuticals in China, introduced that the company had demonstrated more than 30 innovative products at the Expo in five years, and nearly half of them had entered China.
Wang Lei, the global executive vice president and president of international business and China of AstraZeneca, the world's leading pharmaceutical company, said that AstraZeneca will announce its heavy investment and layout at the Expo in addition to bringing four innovative drugs this year. These include the official unveiling of Qingdao regional headquarters, capital increase and production expansion of production and supply bases in China, and deepening cooperation with Shanghai, Guangzhou, Wuxi, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Qingdao and other places.
At the first Expo in 2018, AstraZeneca introduced Fulushi. As the first "fruit of Expo", the product has now reached more than 7000 hospitals in China, and the cumulative import volume has exceeded 100 million dollars.
Capable of R&D, production and sales in China
The technical equipment exhibition area in Hall 4.1 of the Expo is the main battlefield for some sophisticated "big guys". Some foreign enterprises in high-end manufacturing industry are planning to "move" the factory scenes in China to the exhibition booth of the Expo through meta universe, 3D, VR and other technologies to demonstrate their strong strength in local research, development, production and sales in China.
The local Chinese supply chain team of Johnson Controls, including HVAC, can provide customized products and solutions for the needs of Chinese international trade enterprises at any time. At present, Johnson Controls China has achieved 100% local production of HVAC refrigeration products, and has more than 96% local engineering research and development capacity. 70% of products produced by local factories are sold in China.
Johnson Controls vividly "moved" the "production line" of 100% localized water chillers and heating air conditioning units in Wuxi manufacturing base, as well as HPS screw high-temperature heat pumps included in the 2021-2022 Energy Conservation and Ecological Environment Product Catalog of the Chinese Refrigeration Society, into the Jinbo exhibition platform. Through online+offline real-time linkage, Johnson Controls created a virtual and real "Yuan Universe Exhibition Hall", explaining the whole ecology of the products for guests and audience, Explain in detail the insights of Johnson Controls based on global experience and local market.
"Since the first Expo, we have deeply realized that this is an open and diversified platform. We are willing to conduct in-depth exchanges with the Chinese market and partners here." Lang Zhiwen, president of Johnson Controls Asia Pacific, said that this year, the company will hold the global debut ceremony of Building Automation System Metasys12.0 at the Expo, sign contracts with the Chinese Association for Science and Technology and the Chinese Refrigeration Society, and also sign sponsorship agreements with CAR-ASHRAE student competitions.
Rockwell Automation, also from the United States, is also concerned about the "dual carbon" opportunities in the Chinese market. The company entered the Chinese market in 1988 and settled in Caohejing, Shanghai in 2009. At present, the company has 28 sales organizations, 4 training centers, 1 R&D center, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Beijing OEM application development centers, and two production bases in China, with more than 2000 employees. The company also cooperates with more than 70 Chinese universities.
Shi An, president of Rockwell Automation China, said, "We look forward to seizing the opportunity of China's new journey towards modernization and contributing to China's modern industrial system and building a manufacturing power."
Xu Beidi, the representative of Caltech Group in Asia, has more than 25 years of working experience in Asia. In 2019, she became the first German woman to win the Golden Magnolia Award issued by the Shanghai Municipal Government. In May 2021, she was elected Vice President of the European Chamber of Commerce in China and President of the Shanghai Branch. This year, a 100 year old German company, Kodelberg, will "report" to the Expo for the first time and launch a new generation of thin gas diffusion layer (GDL) in China.
"Although Kedebao is the first time to participate in the Expo, we have seen the scale and focus effect of the Expo in previous years." Xu Beidi said that Kedebao also looks forward to experiencing the "effect of entering the Expo" personally, deepening its understanding of China's market demand, and further expanding international trade cooperation channels to share China's opportunities.
